GOD IS LOVE
What is love?
It’s such an all-encompassing word, that has so many different connotations, derpending upon its intent.
But to God, it means a “benevolent concern for mankind”, according to Webster. But this concern is so profound to be beyond the understanding of man.
We have no way of knowing who God is. I expect each have their own idea of what He looks like. To me, He represents an ethereal energy presence..that can assume any shape.
Jesus said , that we are to call Him “Father”. I can’t imagine calling a “presence”who doesn’t have some appearance, father.
But we do know what God “Our Father”is. He is love.
We would expect all fathers to love their sons. I know my father loved me, although he never said so. He never demonstrated that love..I take it back, he did once.
I was at a friend’s house, and in the midst of that “perfect storm”, the New England hurricane of 1937, he stormed in, picked me up and carried me out to the car, amidst howling winds and falling trees. I believe that this was an act of love.
Jesus is the Son of the Father’s love.
What greater love could He bestow, than to allow Jesus Christ to create our world!
It was through His love, that His son created the world we live in.
It was through our Lord Jesus Christ that all all sentient beings, not just humaity, but all living things came to be.
What greater love could a Father gift His Son, than this?
John tells us that He “has given all into His hand”, and God “is showing Him all that He is doing”.
The Father’s love is so strong, that He is imparting to His son, the same capabilities as He possesses!
Think of His love for us.. In Thessalonians, Paul reminds us that it is through His love, in His grace that we “believers” were “chosen before the disruption of this world” to understand and believe the truth as imparted by God’s Spirit.
Christ’s coming on earth, as Jesus, was God the Father’s love for all mankind. His son walked among us. bringing a special message and joy to man. His being human demonstrated the great love that the Father has for us.
Then, the Fathet increased the magnitude of His love for humanity, by calling for and demanding the DEATH OF HIS BELOVED SON!
Only in this way could all sins be abolished and mankind saved..paulnbob
