148..JESUS MARRIED?

There are some good reasons to suspect that Jesus would’ve been married.  The jewish man was usually expected to be married by the age of 30.

Then there’s the wedding at Cana,  where the groom or his family was expected to provide  food and drink for guests, whereupon  he performed the first recorded miracle  by producing delicious wine from water, after being prodded by His mother.

And the instance in Bethel where Martha wants Him to tell Mary to be more helpful with the housework?

In the beginning, to me, the over-riding reason that would suggest that He was married, was the fact that normal Jewish men were married by the time they were 30, and Jesus was 30 plus.

Some would have us believe that He was married to Mary of Magdala (Mary Magdaline). They even suggest that she was the whore that Jesus saved from stoning.  But, of course there is not the slightest  indication that this was her.

I started to examine each of these clues, you might say, for reasons for marriage.  The wedding at Cana was my first clue.

So in rereading what  took place, I discovered that Jesus was ONE OF THE GUESTS,  so that eliminated that.  Maybe a “family” member was getting married..brother ?  No way of knowing,  -but definitely not Jesus.

I realized that believing that Martha would call on Him to get her sister, Mary to help in the house,  by executing His authority as  Mary’s husband, was a stretch.

It was  more likely that , it was because  He was so revered by Mary that she would help with household chores  to please Him..she demonstrated her  reverence, by giving His feet a wash with her hair.

So,that left the more over- riding reason..mature jew marries.  He was at that age, and He was definitely human.

Too many try to make Him a god/human, but Paul makes it clear that He was human.  “In being fashioned as a man, he humbled  himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

I believe because He was filled with the Spirit of God (the Great Comforter) it enabled Him to live His life free of sin, unlike us.

I believe further that the Spirit left him, when  God “forsook” Him on the cross, leaving Him to suffer the terrible physical agony and emotional trauma,   like any other crucified.

I happened to come upon an article by Rev Mark D. Roberts, where he brings out the fact that  there were men who would choose  to remain celebate for higher purpose, and he believes that Jesus might well have chosen to do so, for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven as  mentioned   in Matthew.

You would do well to bring Rev Roberts  discourse on line, should you wish to examine  the marriage  “proposal”in depth..

These are  wholly my thoughts and not sure they would be shared by Paul..bob
