4. WHY PAUL?
To quote in part a very famous poem, "..let me count the ways". I approach this from two viewpoints: Why I chose Paul and why he was chosen by God.
Why I chose Paul:
I've already explained that, as he's the apostle to the Gentiles and I'm a Gentile, it makes perfect sense why I look to Paul as my mentor..teacher.
Another reason to be considered is that he was taught by the Spirit of God..sometimes referring to it as the Spirit of Jesus. Imagine being taught by the very source of wisdom! How can I not believe?
Again, Paul makes me aware that, as a believer..alternately referred to as a saint, that I am a part of the body of Christ. It's comforting to be a part of such an august body!
And Paul says that, if the Christ was not resurrected, then is our faith in vain. Obviously his faith was rock-solid, as evidenced by the privation, persecution and beheading he underwent for his belief..how can I not believe Paul?
He says that I am not pardoned or forgiven of my sins..I am justified of them! In other words, any sins of the past, ones that I may be committing in the future, or even thinking aboiut are erased..as though they were never committed. This, because the Christ made the supreme sacrifice for mankind..all debts paid. I'm reminded, as well, that where sin exists, grace super-exceeds.
As Jesus was resurrected, Paul says we will be too. All men will be resurrected eventually, but I will be resurrected at His coming and caught up into the air to join the Christ to start the new aon.
Now, that's someting to look forward to!
I don't belong to an exclusive club..just one among many believers..bob4Paul
