88..I DO NOT KNOW YOU

In my play, ROAD TO BETHANY..The Passion Play, in which I  portray a very human Jesus and present the passion of the crucifixion, over 300 times. From time to time,  I deliver certain parables, in abreviated form,  in order to bring about a familiarity of words my audience may have read, and to bring about teachings which apply to today.

One, in particular, I feel is very meaningful.  In speaking of those who would be saved, "The way is narrow, many will try and many will fail..after the door is closed, you will strike it and cry out, "Lord, Lord, let me in, I ate and drank in your presence, You taught me in the streets".  And he will say, "Go away, I do not know you"..there will be great wailing and gnashing of teeth."I particularaly like that "gnashing of teeth", to an actor it has impact!

What does it mean?

Well, the way in which I understand it, is that it applies to those "Christians" of today. They attend church and hear the "word", even receive the "sacrament" and are fed "pablum", instead of the word of God, as taught by the Apostle Paul.  They believe that they are indeed in the "presence" of the Lord, but are misled.

Now, you may say that this contradicts what Paul said that all will be saved. No, what it means is that those "believers" will be "saved", resurrected and carried up to meet the Lord Jesus the Christ when He descends to earth, while the others remain on earth waiting  to be "saved" at another time..some, after the "second death"..paulnbob
