62..THIRD JOURNEY

On his third journey, most of Paul's time was spent in and around the cities on the western edge of what is now Turkey and the eastern coastal cities on the Acheean Peninsula and Macedonia.

At Philippi in Macedonia, he chased the demon from a slave girl, prophetess, and was scourged, beaten after a lynch-mob dragged him before the magistrate.

This scene provided a rich opportunity for dramatic reenactment in my play, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN.

Afterwards, he was imprisoned and like, Peter, earler, he was released due to an earthquake.

Anotherr very dramatic scene for my play.

Following his release, he administered a baptism to the guard..one of the very few..I count 9 throughout his lifetime

Again, I remind you that water baptism didn't mean a thing to him.  The baptism that counted was that of the spirit of Jesus Christ, which cannot be administered, only received.

Now, why he chose to baptize the guard and family, I have no idea.  I was baptized by water three times, and thank God I've been baptized by the Christ.

His mission, once again,  was to be a "starter".  He'd wander in to cities, make his evangel known in a public place..stir up interest, find somebody who believed what he taught, to cultivate what  he had sewn; and not much later, move on to the next city.

This practice oftentimes resulted in near-riots, as in Philippi, and causing him to be punished for creating a violent reaction from those who were hidebound in their pagan belief.

Even today, were you to be brave enough to challenge the teachings in traditional churches, you would probably not be stoned, but  could very possibly be  ostrasized ..paulnbob
