WILL VS INTENTION
In searching for something to write about, I find it in the latest UNSEARCHABLE RICHES and the inimitable A.E.Knoch, where he tells us of how God’s will appears so much different than His intention.
He gives as an example of Israel in Egypt, where His command to “Let My People go” is His apparent will. Yet His intention is made clear by having the Pharoa “harden his heart”, and refuse the command, so that the terrible consequences of not letting Israel leave would force Pharoa to his knees, when God displays His awesome power..that was His intention.
Then, when Pharoah finally realizes that a power greater than his commands it, he lets Israel leave.
After they leave God has him change his mind and sets out with his army to bring them back, and in so doing they’re swallowed up by the sea.
Why do you suppose God did that?
In order to punish Pharoa for not obeying His command in the first place.
That seems a little “hard” doesn’t it, but Paul explains why.
Paul writes in Romans that what occurred might appear to be an injustice , but it depends “..not on man’s will or exertion, but upon God’s mercy. He has mercy upon whomever He wills, and hardens the heart of whomever He wills.”
In other words, in order for God to attain what He desires, He oftentimes accomplishes it by using what, to man, is considered “injustice”.
The Assyrian assault on Israel and the Babylonian destruction of the temple and Judah, through God’s will, was intended to punish them for worshipping false gods, and also to spread the word, to the pagans, by some, that there is but one God.
Another example of God’s will versus intention is the holocaust, where millions of Jews were slaughtered.
A merciful God wouldn’t allow that to happen.
It had to be somebody else.
Nothing in this world occurs without God’s will.
It was His will and Hitler was His instrument.
Why?
So that the jews could return to the Holy Land, their home.
The pogroms, Inquisition amd various other “injustices” suffered by His people through the centuriesweren’t enough..there had to be something greater.
So the world witnessed the Holocaust!
The holocaust was such an unspeakable “injustice” visited on man, that the nations, horrified, deemed it necessary for them to have a place, a refuge from future “injustice”.
In the ‘40’s the United Nations finally did something about the “jewish problem”, gave the jews part of the Holy Land.
The Jews are His chosen people and it was necessary for them to return to Jerusalem..the promised land, because that is one of the pre-requisites for the the return of Jesus the Christ.
Now, there is a worldwide plague..greater than any before it, and one that we may not be able to contain.
That is because God wills it.
Why..what is His intention?
I can only speculate and I’d probably be wrong..so I won’t.
Stay safe and stay connected with the Father..paulnbob
