64..BE THOU PERFECT

Before Jesus the Christ ascended for the second time, he assembled the Apostles and made one simple request of them.."be thou perfect".

Imagine your reaction to such a request!

In other words He was tasking them with the impossible, realizing of course that they would strive mightily to please Him, but would most certainly fall short of the mark.

They would undoubtedly sin,  probably not by violating any of the so-called Ten Commandments..that is literally.

We must remember when it comes to that, however; that Jesus said that we break these commandments with regularity.  He said if you wish ill of somebody, or cause them physical harm, you have committed murder.  If you lust after somebody in you heart/thoughts, you have committed adultery..I could go on, but you get the picture.

It is impossible not to sin.  Especially when you wrap in all the "sins" listed by Paul..greed, glutoney, avarice, etc..

I was tested in a monumemntal way and found lacking, when it came to "greed".

I won $250,000 in a game show.

After spending most of the money on both worthwhile things and luxuries, my wife and I still had more money than we were accustomed to having, and the 80K set aside for raxes.

The money set aside however, was not enough to cover both the federal and state taxes, but my wife and I still had enough to make up  the difference..barely.

But, I didn't want to return to our former financial state, comfortably getting by. I was greedy!

So I took the 80K  and invested in a merger..that didn't close..lost 42K.

Now, I am paying for my greed in monthly installments to the IRS, which "pinches".

But I digress..Ypu must know by now that it is a virtual certainty that you, just as the Apostles, will sin in some way, each and every day..you will miss the "mark".

Isn't it grand to know that your sins are justified..they didn't happen.

But you will, in all proability, not wallow in "sin", because as Paul said, "Where sin exists, grace SUPER exceeds"..paulnbob
