96..CALL NO MAN FATHER
Jesus said" Call no man your father on earth, for you have one father who is in heaven". He even included Himelf in this, when he said, "Why call me Lord.." He attempted to ensure that there was but one LORD and no other should be worshipped as such!
What did he mean by that?
He didn't mean you shouldn't call your dad, father.
Jesus was a prophet, in addition to every other "other-worldly" traits He possessed. He foresaw what the Catholic Church would do, because of Satan's influence.
He foresaw that those in the Catholic Chiurch would expect its members to call their priests "fathers". In doing so, they would be looking upon the "fathers" as possessing a lord-like presence, like a child feels about their father. One, who possesses a power over them to punish or praise..almost as though they controlled them in their everyday activity, as well as their after-life.
It is the supreme instance of apostacy. Martin Luther saw the hypocrisy in this and nailed his arguments on the chapel door..his protesting to the ways of the church, including indulgences which the Pope issued in exchange for money, which to its members was like a "free pass" to "heaven".
The head of the Catholic Church, is called Pope. The Catholic Church believes that he is the Apostle Peter’s successor and may speak infallibly. He is Lord and master of their very life, as far as they are concerned. What makes matters worse, is that the Pope feels this way as well. Of course Peter never got near Rome, but I already told you that.
The name, Pope itself means "Pappa" in Latin (another name for father), in direct contravention to what our Lord admonished should not be done, because He said to call upon God the Father direct for whatever assistance is needed.."Our Father which art in heaven, etc." paulnbob
