31. SIN

Let's look at what concerns everybody, and something of which we  are all guilty..SIN.

Now, some would say that means breaking one of the Ten Commandments, but it goes further.

Paul has listed the sins, that bedevil us..there's a good word.  Simply by telling us that it's sins of the flesh..greed, gluttonly, lust..the list goes on and on.  Actions that we are all guilty of pursuing, not just the "Thou Shalt Nots".

He himself admits to being a "sinner'.  In my play, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN, I paraphrase what he says, "that which I should do, I do not and that which I should not do, I do!"  That pretty well sums it up for all of us, I expect.

I continue further to imply that he was concerned with the sin of "lust".  I came to this decision to make him appear more "human"; and I guess, in part, because it  has a more shocking effect to an audience, who might not consider Paul that "human".

In writing a play, you're always looking to bring out the unexpected.

Aside from lust among other sins, six years ago I was tested by trhe Father and found wanting.  That particular sin was greed.

I was blessed to win a considerable amount of money on a TV game show.  After almost a year of spending..some wise, some otherwise, I found that in order to pay for both the state and federal tax  amount, it would virtually take all the money remaining.  So, wanting to hold on, I foolishly invested the money set aside (which was not sufficcient to pay both taxes) in a merger which didn't close.  'Still paying for my greed, monthly, to the IRS.

The final sin, which none of us can avoid is death. Hank Williams said it first, "You'll never get out of this world alive" in his song, MY BUCKET'S GOT A HOLE IN IT.

But  the time will come when we will all be saved, and Christ Jesus will abolish DEATH..  paulnbob
