49..I KNOW A MAN

In his 2d letter to the Corinthians, Paul even boasts, for a reason, to prove to them that his is a special connection to Jesus Christ.  Not enough that he saw the luminescent face of the Christ that started Paul on his dogged journey to bring thes teachings of Christ to all that would listen, but then he makes a miraculous journey. "i know a man in Christ who..was caught up to the third heaven.."   He admits that he didn't know if it occurred "out of body" or in the flesh.  Apparently this  visit to "Paradise"was taken to show Paul the wonders to come.

Something unprecedented, in so far as Paul's recounting of his advetures, occurred, when he gives a time that this actually occurred!  He said it happened fourteen years earlier. According to most people's reckoning, that would mean it occurred while he was operating out of his home town of Tarsus.  He did say that this was a period of great suffering and physical asbuse.  But, I like to believe that his journey to "Paradise" occurred following his stoning to near-death, but by most people's reckoning  Lystra occurred later.

It's fascinating to be offered clues to historical events, even though they don't always provide the answers.

I bring this out to show what a special disciple he was of the Christ.  The many wonders that he was made aware of in "Paradise" he was not able or allowed to tell of, then.

But, in his prison epistles he makes us aware that one special "wonder" is the fact that believers will be carried up to the heavens with our Lord Jesus Christ to do battle with the heavenly hosts.
