83..CREATION VS EVOLUTION
I feel the need to lay out my feelings about the above to make my understanding of this age-old question, Creation or Evolution, known to me as well as others.
The answer as to whether these two theories can co-exist is a simple one to me..yes.
Paul gives us the answer in a very definitive way.."In Him, through Him and for Him" are all things.
God first creates so that all things can evolve..that was His plan from the beginning.
CREATION is defined as "the act of making or producing something that did not exist before".
OK, that fits in with the Big Bang theory of how the Universe, in all it's wonder and magnificence, together with its varied forms of life are present. Most all Scientists have finally agreed that this is how it all began. A tiny atom exploded..in all probability a nuclear one.
In the beginning, "the world was without form and void"..there was nothingness, only God and then everything started to happen.
EVOLUTION is defined as "a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form". We know, then, that something has to exist before it evolves. In other words something, be it animal, mineral or vegetable had to already be present in some form, before it could be improved upon.
That means they had to exist, be created to begin with..only an omnificent force could possess this power..God
Now, I'm not ready to claim my ancestor as being that ONE amoeba that evolved, but it's a good possibility that some form of life started in that manner. Where and how human beings began, I don't have the foggiest notion, But going back to Paul, it was accomplished by God.
When you read of the various human forms that resided on this earth, before the present "humans", you find that each was a different species in many ways. Each species got a little better, throughout the centuries. And these different species sometimes warred against each other and sometimes interacted. Then, lo and behold, humans in our present form came into being.
This interaction caused a different life form to come into being, physically, in ordert to better cope with changes in environment, BUT the improvement in the brain's ability to process things could only be accomplished through external means..God.
The evolutionary progress, with the exception of some creatures that exist in the jungles and under the sea that are striving to be the "survivals of the fittest", has ceased.
Why?
Because God is satisfied with what has evolved.
How does this reconcile with the account in GENESIS?
I believe the writer of GENESIS intended his explanation of how everything occurred to reveal the wonders of God, and not provide a history lesson. In point of fact, he probably had no idea of how it all began, but wanted others to share an understanding of God's miraculous ways, in a manner that they could understand.
I don't believe that he intended them to take everything literally, only to believe that God was responsible for those things they couldn't understand, that were unexplainable.
Who's to say what is meant by six "days"..to God a "day" could be a "billion years", or a "billion years" coulod be a day..paulnbob
