HUMILIATION
UNSEARCHABLE RICHES comes through as usual for another topic.
Humiliation is defined as to be humiliated, or found contemptible, mortified, shamed.
These definitions all relate to those who are crucified.
Paul tells us in Galatians, “Cursed is he that hgangs from a tree”
Why cursed?
Because the crucified hung for a period of time for all to see. It is an act of shame that marks the person even after death. The crucified in pictures are always covered with bits of clothing, but I believe that they were naked, exposed literally in every way.
Imagine the mother, with dead eyes, looking at her nude son?
Deuteronomy states, “..he who is hanged is accursed of God”.
Could there be any worse curse?
It is a mark that remains even after death.
Our Lord’s life was marked from before and after the “crucifixion”.
Before the crucifixion, He was Jesus the teacher/ leader and miracle worker.
After the crucifixion, He was the Christ Jesus, son of God.
In my book. JESUS:THE FINAL JOURNEY I atempt to describe what took place during Jesus’ crucifixion, below, puting aside for the most part the physical experience, which we know would be exruciating:
“All the wicked acts of which He is innocent..Jesus is made to feel the shame and embarrasment of an adulterer. He is overcome by the great despair and sorrow that accompanies the taking of a life. The guilt of lasciviousness and wickedness is his. And greed and lust remain in His thoughts, while swimming in a sea of pain..He sees himself, in his mind’s eye, doing these despicable acts. He is ashamed of his nakedness. Jesus is made to feel, not only the gross emotions that accompany these nefarious acts, but as though he has, indeed, committed these acts. And worse, that this type of action, on his part, is endemic in him. He, Quite lterally, bears the the evil of man, while hanging on the “cross”. Naked..bearing the sins of the world, for three excruciating, mind-crazed hours”.
There was a time, like any mortal, when He called out to God.
He cried out asking why God has forsaken Him?
His Father forsook Jesus in His moment of peril, because it was necessary for Him to undergo the shame and pain alone, in order to save mankind..paulnbob ,
