60..PAUL'S SECOND JOURNEY

What was significant about this journey is that he was  "called" by a vision to go to Macedonia. In my play about Paul, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN, I choose to say it was the vision of Alexander the Great that entreated him to go there, so as to  make it more "real".  Macedonia at this time included a large part of what is now Greece.

While making his way through various cities there, he was arrested twice and released as soon as his Roman citizenship was known( a very valuable perk).  He met Lydia, a seller of purple, which was greatly valued, and she became a patron of his, providing a home in which he taught.

When I mention  Lydia's  role in my play and her character, I bring to mind Lydia, my wife, providing a very personal reflection as "Paul".

Paul was essentailly presenting the same teaching as the other Apostles, peace and love and that the Christ would return and bring His kingdom on earth, in which they would enjoy the same privileges as the Jews.  The only thing different, basically, was that Paul converted the pagans without insisting that they obey the laws of the Jews, and that he knew the Christ in spirit, Who taught him.

You should understand that Paul did not receive the ultimate truth until later..paulnbob
