80..PARDON VS JUSTIFICATION
I may be "preaching to the choir" to many, but here goes.
Now, many are confused as to whether they are pardoned or justified of their sins, due to the sacrifice made by Jesus, who emptied himself and suffered grievously on the "cross".
Let's clear it up, hopefully, for all concerned.
First, Pardon is defined as releasing a person from disfavor for wrongdoing or a fault..in other words excusing a sin. Now, this usually comes about after the person has DONE something to deserve it. Pardons are preceded by an action on that person's part..repentence, entreaty. In lay parlance, someone must request a pardon.
Now, as to justification, this is defined as freeing of guilt and penalty attached to sin. Simple, huh, yet profound..nothing has to be done by that person to obtain this. It is freely given by God the Father, due to that supreme sacrifice of His Son!
Now, don't believe for a minute that I recommend you not pray, or talk to the Father and apologize, ask fogiveness, or thank Him, certainly it is, but it is not REQUIRED to obtain justification.
By His grace alll mankind is justified of their sins..most just know it, but a distinct advantage is provided by Paul to all of us who believe him, we know and marvel at it! It is as though our sins have never..are never..will never..be committed.
Other poor souls feel they have to GIVE something to obtain this, and that is how so many churches benefit financially..especially the R/C with its "confessions" and "absolutions"!
FEAR!
For instance, one must have "last rights" in order to be admitted to heaven! I thought Luther did away with this, along with "indulgences", but apprently not.
Why?
Why has God graciously provided justification of sins to all mankind , despite the fact many of us sin seemingly without limit ?
Because He chooses to.
It was He who offered up his Son to be sacrificed for all mankind, just with this in mind.
Wrap your head around that and wonder at how much the Father loves us! paulnbob
