48..SAUL/PAUL
Having portrayed Saul/Paul over 1100 times in my one man play, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN, The Life of St. Paul, I feel compelled to put my "oar" in RE the TV show "AD.THE BIBLE CONTINUES.
First of all he sounds a little too "modern" when he speaks..so do most of the cast, for that rather.
He looks pretty good..at least he's not blond-haired and blue-eyed or black, like John, for heaven's sake, or mary Magdalene! Alright, I believe in equal racial opportunity in casting, but not disciples!
Blacks were slaves! Definitely gone too far with this "politically correct" casting.
Back to Saul/Paul. The scene with Ananias in Damascus was fairly good. The uproar he caused in Damacus was accurate, as was he fact that, by his own admission, he was the foremost persecutor of the followers of Jesus, and he went "crazy" trying to tell everyone who would listen to believe in Jesus..not a wise idea. And he was dumped off the wall in a basket to escape.
But, he dwelled in the desert for years, follwing his escape, where he was taught by the Spirit of God.
So, his visit to Jerusalem and confrontation with the disciples was speeded up for dramatic purposes.
I can accept that, but his confrontation was with all the disciples, and James more than Peter was the principle one, following Branabas intervention, along with Peter to accept him, and allow him to do what?
Bring his message to the Gentiles/Pagans, without they're having to become proselyted jews..circumcised and subject to jewish traditions, as modified by the teachings of Jesus.
Unheard of!
Saul was accepted, "strange" though he may have seemed, and allowed to follow his own path, as chosen by God.
Now, let's see if we can't bring 300 viewers to the You Tube video, GOD'S MESSENGERS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnS9Ili3Znc&feature=youtu.be.. before there are 4000 readers of my blog.
Currently there are just 165 viewers vs 3414 readers..paulnbob
