149..GOOD WORKS
Again I look to UNSEARCHABLE RICHES for inspiration, and I found it in the recent issue about “Good Works”.
Paul speaks of God’s “Good Works”as all those designed to reconcile all mankind to Him, through Jesus Christ.
In my play, ROAD TO BETHANY..The Passion Play, when Jesus speaks of the Messiah (Himself), He says, “The Messiah will be born in Bethlehem, of David’s seed, do “Good Works” for a short while, undergo His trial and return to the Father.”
The “Good Works” that Jesus spoke of is making people aware of the the Kingdom of God and how they might be a part of it.
This is the the mission that so occupied His every moment, it was, as I beleieve, His reason, for remaining celabate.
In His talks He describes the Kingdom in many different ways, depending, I’m certain, on His audience, choosing earthly descriptions in which they would be familiar.
Once again, in my play, I choose to have Him say “The Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed that a man plants in his garden. It grows into a tall tree, birds nest in its branches. ” Throughout the gospels, He uses many diverse parables to describe the Kingdom.
You would certainly include His willingly ascending the “cross” as a further extension of His Good Works, which was the ultimate act that saved all mankind.
Now let’s consider you and I. What are our Good Works?
Remember, we “believers”, members of the Ecclesia, were chosen by God, for His own good reason, before the “disruption of the world”. We didn’t have any say in it, it was through His good grace.
Now, with this great blessing, comes an obligation. He expects us to perform our own “Good Works”.
Paul makes it clear that we are to do what God has intended in each to further the accomplishment , in support of Jesus Christ, the head of the Ecclesia, in completing God’s purpose in becoming All in All.
This would include worthy service in helping others.
You may also be so full of zeal at the importance of knowing and believing in what Paul teaches, that you may be anxious to “convert’ others. If so, be sure that you choose your “target”, carefully. If it’s a family member or a friend, your efforts may cause unwanted tensions and even strained relaions.
Think back to when you were not a “beleiever”, and weren’t even aware that his teaching was diffeeent. Also keep in mind that the reason we came to believe was due to the good graces of God. It may be that God has not chosen those you seek to educate.
It is entirely possible, as well, that God will lead you to do something to further His purpose.
It may come to you unexpectedly , like my play, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN..The Life of St.Paul., in which I was to bring Paul’s teaching, through drama , to those who may have been unfamiliar,..and I believe He led me to write this blog, as well..paulnbob
