74..THE CROSS & THE CRUCIFIX
CROSS
There's an object that millions of "Christians" have on their person, the cross, big and small, plain and ornate. They wear this, usually , suspended on a chain, around the kneck. , sometimes at the end of the Rosary beads. They do this beleiving that it is a sign of veneration of the Christ.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
This object is considered by all as THE symbol that they are "Christians".. more to the point, Roman Catholic Christians. They even make the sign of the cross..carrying this obscenity on their person.
When I was in Jerusalem, I watched many groups, surrounding a man carrying a"cross". Some "crosses" you could hold in your hand, and others more replicate the size that they believed would've been borne by Jesus. They trudged along the Way of Tears, stopping from time to time at the Stations of the Cross.
Their ultimate destination, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where it is purported that Jesus was both cruccified and buried. In effect the, they were celebrating the crucifixion in style. They felt as though they were celebrating the Lord, and Once again, they were deluded, .
Early in the movement, when the Christians were being persecuted, a fish was used to make fellow travelers aware that they were followers of Christ. The fish was a depiction of the Christ. Combining Greek letters to form the "fish", it spells out," Jesus Son of God, Savior".
Now that makes sense, whereas, the cross is a continued reminder of the crucifixion. Do you think that Jesus the Christ likes to be reminded time and time again, of the agonies suffered on the "cross", or for that matter God, and His sacrificie of His only Son?
How could so many be deluded for so long? The answer is simply that the Great Deceiver..Satan makes this seem perfectly right, because it represents a celebration of Jesus Christ. It is the RESURRECTION that is to be celebrated.. there's mo symbol of this, it's a matter of prayer and reflection on the glory of Jesus the Christ!
CRUCIFX
Most every church, not just R/C, contains a statue, some life-size and some not, that show our Lord, as Jesus, suffering on the "cross", usually in living color!
Then, artists, throughout the centuries, add their interpretation of the crucifixion in paint and in sculpture.
So, now they've added insult to injury, and Satan has had his way, and "Christians" everywhere enjoy the belief that they are venerating God and Jesus the Christ.
This reminds me what Jesus said in answer to how you get into the Kingdom of God. In my play, ROAD TO BETHANY, I paraphrase His answer. "The way is narrow, many wil try and many will fail..after the door is closed, you will strike it and cry out, "Lord, Lord, let me in, I ate and drank in Your presence, You taught me in the streets"..and He will say, "Go away, I do not know you." There will be great wailing and gnashing of teeth".
All this time spent in church, learning from religious leaders, being deluded, with great expectations, not realizing how they've been duped by Satan..the Great Deceiver..paulnbob
