151..SPIRIT'S LAW
Looking for inspiration and it came in the latest UNSEARCHABLE RICHES (Once again, I urge you to subscribe by contacting Concordant Publishing.com).
In it I’m reminded that God’s original Law, the so-callled Ten Commandments firstdelivered to Israel on Mt Sinai has been replaced by the Spirit Law, as Paul informs us.
Those commandments or laws, precepts issued by God were impossible to adhere to in their entirety, God knew it. He knew that what He was commanding would find that all men would fall short in obeying them. So why, you might ask, give His chosen people rules that were beyond their ability to follow?
I believe He did this, first of all in the hopes that in sriving to do their best, they would be worthy of having been chosen, and that in the end, it would be recognized that nobody could follow them to the letter, let alone in the spirit. Remember what Jesus said about “thou shall not kill”, saying showing anger was not failing to keep that law in spirit.
All men sin..miss the mark, so to speak.
So God took it upon Himself to justify the sins of mankind by sacrificing His son, Jesus.
Now that sounds calous, even heartless, but God, the Father of us all wanted to relieve us of the heavy burden that accompanies knowledge of sin. His love of mankind knows no bounds, as this would prove.
But He did not ask this of the Christ without first assuring Jesus’s death would be followed by the resurrection. So, theirs was a compact made in the heavens and acted upon on earth.
The crucifixion of Jesus caused unbelievable suffering of the Son, and unimaginable
grief to the Father, as evidenced by the torrential rains that followed..what force of nature could restrain a Father’s tears?
So now, Paul tells us that following that sacrifice, we are as one with the Christ, in spirit.
We have “life in Christ Jesus”, through God’s spirit. “Paul calls the operation of the spirit the “Spirit’s Law”".
In effect then there is no “law” by which we should live..and our sins are justified, so we are to live by the Spirit of the Christ..no small undertaking..paulnbob
